Lalenia and her husband Peter both grew up in Boulder and attended BVSD public schools, graduating from Boulder High School and Fairview High School respectively.  They went on to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder. Their three children have attended BVSD public schools for elementary, middle, and high school.

Lalenia has served the Boulder community in a variety of roles, including as a Sexual Assault Prevention Educator for both Moving to End Sexual Assault and Blue Sky Bridge. She currently serves on the BVSD Title IX Stakeholder Council.  Lalenia also works as a Restorative Justice Facilitator and a Victim Advocate.  The first thing her friends and family will tell you is that Lalenia will be a voice for our student community.

Additionally, Lalenia supports several community education organizations. She supports the End the Gap Initiative at Leeds School of Business. This initiative aims to create gender parity across CU business programs. She also supports our local  "I Have a Dream" Foundation, which empowers children from low-income communities to reach their educational and career goals.  Lalenia is also proud to back Access Opportunity, which creates opportunities for high-potential students from low-income households to reach their full potential.

Committed to educational policy excellence, Lalenia has set her standards high, and will advocate for increased educational opportunities for ALL kids in our community.
